The Ibis Ripley is a highly adaptable creature known to thrive in any location. We've traveled to the high desert plains of Utah to see the newest variant of this species. Here, a pack of Ripley's will travel for hours on end, often covering great distances in the search of beer and a burrito.
"Doing life together, doing it well" - that's what drives partners-in-life Jess & Allison Roskelley, who share a passion for the mountains and the backcountry.
The film, Nyima, is a modern day story of a low caste family struggling to survive and redefine their cultural identity in the isolated Himalayan village of Samagaun. Immersed in Tibetan culture and deeply rooted in Buddhist beliefs, they have been pushed to the outskirts of their community where they live in a captivatingly raw and unforgiving environment. Their story as poor Dalits (persons of the lowest caste) is eloquently told through the curious mind of a young protagonist, Nyima. The viewer will go on a cinematic journey through this ancient village examining the daily responsibilities and traditions of this timeless community. Nyima offers breathtaking scenery with a cultural lens for understanding the greater social problems of the caste system in Nepal, while providing hope for a better future for Dalit families everywhere.
While every Dalit person is born with limited choice or chance toward radical self improvement, there are some developing communities breaking free from the confines of their social oppression. Because of a younger generation working toward greater equality, change is growing on the cultural horizon. The implications of these progressive communities become the catalyst for a new Nepal moving toward a brighter future.

Maximal concepts is a restaurant group in Hong Kong, more than 200 of our staff are Nepalese, so we have strong ties to the country, and wanted to do more to help support the people of Nepal. In early May, we visited both the Karma Flights office to understand how they operate and to ensure that all funds would be going towards the project. We visited Arnakot, a small village in remote Nepal, to understand the situation with the current school, what the school needs, and how the community can benefit from it. The total cost of constructing a new school building with 6 classrooms is US$96k, of which Maximal Concepts will be attempting to raise $50k through various fundraising initiatives, and the balance of which will be raised by the local village, and local government.
Education is the basic foundation of all society. If we wish to see Nepal flourish and grow into a self sustaining Country we need to help secure proper education for the future leaders of this nation.

In an effort to advance the interaction between man and bird, and to provide a unique opportunity to interact with birds of prey in their own environment, Scott Mason conceived and developed Parahawking. Parahawking is paragliding with trained birds of prey. By combining ancient falconry methods with the modern techniques of Paragliding, birds of prey are trained to fly and interact with paragliders and their tandem passengers and to guide them to thermals. Some birds of prey are natural soaring birds that have an amazing ability to conserve energy whilst flying. By using rising currents of warm air, birds of prey are able to gain height and fly long distances without flapping their wings. We as paragliders harness their natural ability to conserve energy by following them as we fly.

Coming Fall 2016
Hipster Holidays for Adventurers
Beards, 1950’s-era British motorcycles built in India completely unfit for off-road travel, an unpaved road to Tibet in the Himalaya, aerial views from mini-paragliders strapped to bikes, and one of the most famous Buddhist festivals in the world were all components of a bucket-list hipster holiday for adventurers. Five friends set out from a resort town in Nepal, Pokhara, and drove Royal Enfield motorcycles for ten days to the once forbidden kingdom of Mustang.
The wind-battered, isolated roads leading to Tibet created a trip-of- a-lifetime environment for world-class athletes eager to take a page out of the millennials’ playbook, while collecting experiences, fostering camaraderie, and participating recreationally in the sports that have previously defined their lives, pursuits, and records of accomplishments.
Without a script or guarantee of a record-breaking feat for sponsors or film crews, the team solidified their plan to travel to the Tibet border via Royal Enfield motorcycles, while carrying the smallest paragliders on the planet, only a week before the trip began. This is a story of how seasoned adventurers found renewed passion for unfamiliar experiences by taking on new skills while stepping back from bigger, faster, further, hard-core attempts in their pasts. Because half the group was relatively new to paragliding and the other half was new to motorcycling, each individual appreciated engaging in new, challenging experiences for the entire trip and creating a catalogue of epic moments of personal struggles and successes.

Photographer, filmmaker, alpinist, paraglider...renaissance man Cody Tuttle shares his passion for documentary filmmaking and for the people and mountains of Nepal.
On Tuesday, June 26th, 2012, thirty filmmakers spread throughout Yosemite National Park to document the people who visit and work there. Hikers, horses and hang gliders, as well as painters, climbers and cooks helped create this unique portrait of One Day in Yosemite.
The Eastern Sierra is one of the top areas in the world for flying. The adventurous nature of the mountains surrounding Mammoth Lakes, CA, coupled with the extreme sport of paragliding mean that a paraglider has to take into account many factors to remain safe.
Five friends head to the Tiji Festival in Lo Manthang Nepal. They choose to explore the forbidden kingdom on Royal Enfield Motorcycles and paragliders. Headed to the Tiji festival they found amazing flying sites that dropped into glaciated valleys and terraced hillsides. The journey was equal to the destination where the team experienced the Tiji festival that marks the victory of good over evil. It is believed that what is now the Mustang region was being destroyed by a demon who spread disease and took away water. Dorje Jono fought and defeated this demon and the festival celebrates his victory with prayers, ceremony, and intricate dances that are practiced today as they were hundreds of years ago.
The team also pioneered numerous flying sites and experienced Mustang’s epic flying arenas and incredible hospitality from locals. Check out the journey!

When you find yourself driving up the US Highway 395, the Sierra Nevada mountains have a special way of calling you to their summits. We had the opportunity to follow professional skier Chris Benchetler on an early season backcountry adventure to the summit of Mount Locke, 12,634ft. The desire to explore and the wanderlust for un-skied, un-tracked terrain will lead us to the summits of these mountains, year after year, to experience pure Valhalla.
With the Sierra Nevada snowpack measuring 115 percent of normal, thanks in large part to El Niño, the vast backcountry is finally in shape for skiers to head out to the Eastern Sierra classics.
On Friday, January 29, Chris Benchetler and Wingate Motion did just that, pointing it south from their Mammoth Lakes homes to Bishop, California, where Benchetler was born. There they bouldered around the Buttermilks before heading up to the Wahoo Gullies. The crew hiked the center gully to the top of 12,634-foot Mount Locke before skiing 3,000 feet of pure bliss down the northeast-facing couloir. Truly, an all-time day in the Eastern Sierra backcountry, allowing the crew, for a brief bit, to forget about the severe drought from the last four years.

"So, I was asked to raise a couple fish for the annual trout fishing competition. I grew them for an extra year, and they were some of the biggest I'd seen. Under cover of darkness, I slipped them into the lakes in the night before the tournament began.
"It was a race against the sun as we climbed the mountain by starlight. We had to reach the top before the sunrise stole the perfect powder that we were determined to ski. The race was on." - Jon Crowley: Powder Perfectionist. #NoSmallAdventure

Fun, agile handling
The Wisp is a lightweight tandem, perfect for mountain hike and fly adventures with a friend. It is a fun, agile, and easy-to-use tandem with the weight and pack volume of a solo wing.
Fifteen years of lightweight R&D has allowed us to apply some exciting new construction and design technology to our range of light wings, and the Wisp benefits from much of the same features found in our high-performance adventure wings. With an optimised cell-count and carefully chosen profile, the Wisp is aerodynamically clean and structurally stable. The reduced sail drag, optimised line layout, and low overall line consumption all combine to increase performance without compromising safety and ease of use.
